Field Crew

Josh Scherrer

LEAD RESTORATION TECHNICIAN

CA/NM

Josh earned his BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from MIT, but his passion for water resources soon led him beyond traditional infrastructure. Instead, he pursued a wide range of ecological restoration and research roles across the U.S. His work has taken him from studying plant water use in southwestern Georgia, to conducting prescribed burns with The Nature Conservancy in Minnesota, and to inspiring environmentally conscious youth in Northern California.

Outside of work, Josh enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, experimenting with drone photography, and exploring woodworking and crafting—whatever life on the road allows. He also loves wandering through new cities and is always on the lookout for great book and podcast recommendations, especially on topics like history, botany, ecology, natural resource management, and urban planning.

Now in his second year of Anabranch field seasons, we couldn’t be more excited to have Josh back on the team!
